Satellite Info -

Occasionally a weeknight night tournament will be played as a Satellite to a larger tournament in a Card Room or Casino. These larger tournaments may be the World Series of Poker or a local Los Angeles event such as the LAPC or a WSOP Circuit tournament.

Buy-ins will range from $60 to $300, depending on what event seat we are giving away.  The winner of the satellite takes all the cash and must use it to enter the designated tournament per our staking agreement.

If the winner of the satellite cashes in their big tournament event, they keep 60% of their winnings, the remaining 40% is divided evenly among remaining satellite participants.

Satellites go with a minimum of 7 players and a max of 10, unless it's a WSOP satellite, in which case there is no cap.  If there are too few players to meet the buy in, the winner will make up the difference and in turn also be the recipient of one or two satellite shares, depending on how much they pay out of pocket.

If in the event the winner cannot make the a local tournament after all, they may designate a replacement player of their choosing, from the satellite participants, to go for the group.  In this event, they take a full 10% of the winnings and the new representative takes 50% instead of 60%.

The shares are the same in the WSOP in Vegas, but the selection provision does not apply here.  In these satellites it is the runner up who is required to replace the REP if they cannot go.  If the runner up is unable to go, then the host will designate a player (which may be himself) to make the trip.

Whether the event is local or in Vegas, postponement of playing for the REP will not be allowed unless the reason for such a delay is a life altering event such as a catastrophic injury or death of an immediate family member - the host shall be the sole arbiter of allowing a postponement.

There also may be satellites that provide for a different percentage of sharing winnings; if so they will be stipulated in the evite and in the written staking agreement.

As seating is typically limited to 10 players max, players are encouraged not to cancel at the last minute.  If life intervenes and they have to bail out, they are strongly encouraged to do right and to still purchase the share of the empty seat if no replacement player is found.
