All levels are 20 minutes.

Two tables Max.  Tournament may be 8-max or 7-max, depending on what games are being spread.

***

There is no TOC rake taken from these tournaments.

Players who are regulars at this event will be given higher priority for TOC host invites.

Player who wins the most of these tournaments in a year will receive a special Trophy and a guaranteed TOC seat.  In the event of a tie the first tournament of the following year with contending players will be the tie-breaker, with the trophy awarded when the last contender remains. The TOC seats will still go to all players who are tied in the Trophy race, as the TOC is likely to be played before the first Mix Fix tourney of the year.

****

Here are the planned tournaments over the course of a year - all are subject to change.

  • Big Bet Mix (NLHE, PLO, 2-7 Single Draw, 5 Card Draw, SOHE)
  • T.O.R.S.E. (Triple Draw, Omaha8, Razz, Stud, Stud8)

Payouts will always be 3 people, 50/30/20 - unless we get two completely full tables.  Then fourth place will get their initial buy-in money back, $40 from 1st and $20 from 2nd.  If fourth place is a dedicated dealer, then they only get $40, $20 from 1st & 2nd.

Kill Pots!

 KILL POTS!

Optional on Big Mix Friday Night Cash                             Mandatory on Fix Limit Friday Night Cash

If someone Scoops two pots in a row the Kill Pot Marker comes out!

A face up "Kill" button is placed in front of that player and they must immediately post a double big blind or a double-bring in.

Blind games - Blinds are still posted at $1/$2 but limits are $4/$8 - so it's $4 to call, $8 for a raise. Pot killer must post $4 and act in turn.

Stud games - Antes are still $1.  Bring-In is $2.  Complete is $4.  Limits are $4/$8.  Pot killer must post $2 and act in turn.

Kill Pot (double limits) ends when player with Kill button fails to scoop the next hand.  Button is turned face down and stays in place if there was not a scoop, Face down Kill button is moved over to the scooping player if there is a scoop.  He/She turns the button up and the Kill is on if he/she scoops a second pot.  It stays down if they split or lose.  It is only pushed over when a player scoops.

The NIT Game

New for 2023 NLHE Cash Game Nights - introducing, The Nit Game!

What, prey tell, is The Nit Game?   Read on to find out...

Official NIT Game button!

The Nit Game, is derived from and is effectively the same thing as  - The Stand Up Game

The Stand Up Game, as far as I can tell, originated in Texas.

  •  Everyone at the table has to stand-up and stay standing while they play.
  •  When a player wins a pot, they get to sit down.  (A chopped main pot, players remain standing)
  •  The last player standing pays a bounty/penalty to all seated players.
  • This amount is typically 4-8 big blinds.  So in a $10/$20 game it could be $100 a player.

The NIT game is the same game, but instead of standing up, players all receive a NIT button at the start of the game.

This will save our knees and backs because we are old, ha ha.

When a player wins a pot, they get rid of their NIT button.   Last player with a NIT button pays all the other players a bounty/penalty.

Here are our NIT Game rules.

  • NIT Game starts at 10pm. (We finish the hand we are on 1st). Button is not affected.
  • Participation is NOT mandatory - players may sit out and take a snack/bathroom break.
  • All participants get a NIT button.  When a player wins a pot, their NIT button goes away.
  • To get rid of your NIT button you must table your hand.
  • Last player with a NIT button pays all other participating players $2 apiece.
  • A second NIT Game may go at 11pm, after the High Hand Bonus is paid out.
  • If you play in the Nit Game and you are felted - you are expected to reload.  Please sit out the Nit Game if you are not prepared to do so.
  • If players are all in and running remaining cards on the board twice, then only the first runout counts toward the Nit Game.
IMPORTANT -
  • If you are the last player remaining with a NIT button and are felted, or paying the penalty would felt you - you do have the option of not paying if the alternative is you leaving for the evening. The purpose of the game is not to punish with Max pain, but rather to generate action and fun.  That said, the right thing to do, if you have chosen to play, is to pay the piper when you are the last Nit sitting.
  • If you are short in cash - the house will pay the penalty for you, and you can pay me back via Venmo or at another time.

The bounty amount may be raised if all players agree, the host will suss out the consensus.  $5 seems like it would be a great price point, but I would rather have everyone participating rather than several sitting out than insist on this higher amount.

The second NIT Game may or may not happen depending on the consensus at the table.  As always the game is optional.
